Deutsche Bank pledges AUD250,000 to bushfire relief in Victoria
13 February 2009

Deutsche Bank today announced it has pledged AUD250,000 to bushfire relief in Victoria and will also match dollar for dollar employee donations made to appeals to support victims of the bushfires.

“The recent bushfires in Victoria will be recorded as the most devastating in Australia’s history and our thoughts are with all those people who have been affected,” said Deutsche Bank Chief Executive Officer Chum Darvall.

“The Victoria Bushfire Appeal Fund will receive half of Deutsche Bank’s AUD250,000 pledge, with the remainder allocated to a specific community project within the affected region at a later date," he added.

Deutsche Bank Chairman John Macfarlane said, “We are shocked by the scale and impact of this unprecedented tragedy, and want to help victims of the bushfires rebuild their lives.

“Over and above our financial pledge, we will match donations our employees make to bushfire appeals and encourage their volunteering efforts toward community projects and services operating in affected areas.”

Deutsche Bank has a long-standing tradition of supporting humanitarian efforts related to disaster relief throughout the world. Using local networks globally, Deutsche Bank’s disaster relief program responds with emergency funds and committed staff to provide immediate aid and long-term assistance to victims of these catastrophes.
