Deutsche Bank helps support 28 students through its partnership with The Smith Family

Deutsche Bank today announced The Smith Family as its Charity of the Year for the second year running and continuation of support for the charity’s Learning for Life program.

Over the last year, Deutsche Bank employees have helped raise over AUD 95,000 for the Learning for Life program through a range of fundraising opportunities including flagship events and team initiatives. These funds will be directed towards Learning for Life sponsorships for 28 students.

The Smith Family CEO Dr Lisa O’Brien said: “These funds will make a real impact in the lives of 28 students. Our Learning for Life program provides emotional, practical and financial support to help disadvantaged children and young people with their education. Ultimately, with the support of partners like Deutsche Bank, The Smith Family aims to deliver a lasting benefit to the children we help, to their families, and more broadly to society.”

James McMurdo, Chief Executive Officer, Deutsche Bank Australia and New Zealand said: “Learning for Life is closely aligned to our global Born to Be youth engagement program, which focuses on removing barriers to young people’s education and personal development and prepares them for the professional world.

Over the next 12 months, we look forward to working with The Smith Family to raise more valuable funds that can be directed towards helping create a better future for disadvantaged students and allow them to realise their full potential.”

About Deutsche Bank’s Charity of the Year program

Deutsche Bank’s Charity of the Year program launched in 2011 to leverage employee support and enthusiasm for fundraising, while engaging the entire organisation in making an impact with one employee-elected charity. Around 50% of employees voted for The Smith Family and many more have gone on to support the charity since initially elected in 2014. Previous Charity of the Year partners include ActionAid and Malpa.
