Deutsche Bank hosts the 18th Annual Equity Capital Markets dinner and raises more than AUD 180,800 for The Smith Family

On Thursday 26 November 2015, Deutsche Bank hosted the 18th Annual Equity Capital Markets Charity Dinner at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. The event brought together over 130 people with the primary focus of fostering relations and building networks across the investment banking and broking community.

Since the event was first hosted in 1998, it has raised over AUD 1.5m for a range of different charities. We are proud to announce that over AUD 180,800 was raised at the event this year, with all funds going to Deutsche Bank’s Charity of the Year - The Smith Family. This will provide valuable support to the charity’s Learning for Life Program, which enables disadvantaged youth to gain access to education and fulfil their dreams.

Michael Richardson, Head of Equity Capital Markets at Deutsche Bank, opened the event highlighting its long, successful history and encouraged everyone to get involved to maximise the fundraising effort.

“Tonight night is an opportunity for us all to catch-up after yet another successful year of transactions. The dinner also provides a chance for us to give something back to the community by raising funds for a worthy charitable cause,” said Richardson.

Dr. Lisa O’Brien, Chief Executive Officer at The Smith Family then welcomed guests on behalf of the charity and thanked everyone for their contributions.

“I am aware that every year you come together to not only enjoy each other’s company, and make some new friends, but also to raise funds for charity. Thank you also for your donations of time, skills, energy and ideas. Your support is truly valued,” said Dr O’Brien.

Deutsche Bank would like to extend thanks to everyone who supported the event and helped raise over AUD 180,000.

More about Learning for Life

Today, one in 10 Australian children are living in jobless families, where even life’s basics are hard to come by. When families are experiencing financial disadvantage, children can fall behind in their learning, leaving them more vulnerable to experiencing hardship themselves later in life.

A key way The Smith Family supports children in need is through Learning for Life. This program helps disadvantaged children to participate more fully in their education by providing innovative, evidence-based programs and emotional, practical and financial support throughout their school years. In 2014, over 34,000 children living in 94 communities across Australia benefitted from the Learning for Life program.
